By Mary Waters Auer
In April, members of CCA gathered to talk about the aspects family
members face when dealing with the care of a loved one. When we talk
about aging, people tend to think of individuals in their late eighties
and nineties whose mental and physical health is failing. However, the
same challenges that those individuals face can come on suddenly from an
accident, cancer diagnosis, or other medical emergencies.
We discussed the types of resources available for family
members. Resources provided by the state and nonprofits can help
navigate general topics on aging, making housing decisions, fraud, and
elder abuse. At a high level we touched on the housing options
available as people progress through care, plus issues related to
financial concerns, safety concerns, and documentation that everyone
should have. CCA members can review the presentation here.
