A New Lead for CCA Education

Thomas Streit, who has led the CCA Education area for the past six years, retired at the end of 2024. In addition, Tom has spent the last 15 years being a part of Cargill Cares Council in multiple capacities. We thank Tom for all his work bringing us educational opportunities and supporting CCA.

We are excited to announce that Mary Auer has taken over the role of Education Lead. Along with continuing to promote the Vanguard webinars, she will be looking to create in-person training on topics focusing on: Managing Finances, Healthy Aging, and Enjoying Retirement. If you have an idea for a session, or would be interested in leading a session, please reach out to Mary.

Our first in-person session will be "Round Table on Aging," which will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Ridgedale Library. Check out our updated Education Page to find out more about this session and the upcoming Vanguard webinars. Upcoming Education events are listed on the Event Calendar. Been Thinking About Golf?

Yeah, me too; but I do believe we will have green grass and sunny skies soon.  If you missed playing with CCA friends and former coworkers last year, make a point to do so this year in the CCA Golf League.  There is always a good crowd, time to socialize before and after each game, celebrations for who scored best and putted the least.

Once the weather cooperates, play is every Thursday morning, usually starting at 10:00 a.m. We play different courses each week, so you get to see the best of the Metro countryside.  Joe Fournier will begin negotiating and selecting courses for the 2025 year play in March, and the schedule will be sent to all who have played in past years in early April. The schedule will also be posted on the CCA website Event Calendar.  If you have not played, and would like to do so, or learn more, contact Joe Fournier at email fournier_joe@hotmail.com  or at 763-420-6720, and join us!

Until then, keep thinking about golf!

Batter Up!!

Spring training is well underway. Summer baseball is right around the corner.

Plan to join us for a couple of games this summer. We will plan both a Twins game and stadium tour. Twins Archivist Clyde Doepner does an excellent job of making each year’s tour unique.  And of course, the Saints game is an experience you do not want to miss -- lots of baseball and plenty of antics and even a pig or two!  Watch for game details in the weekly announcements!

Grab a Cold One with Alumni Friends

Join us on the first Thursday of each month for a cold brew. CCA’s

“Tap Connection” program hosts a social time from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at

craft breweries across the metro area. Renew old acquaintances, invite

other Cargill friends to join us.

Another Strike for Bowling

Cargill’s bowling league at Texa-Tonka lanes in St. Louis Park will be wrapping up its 2024-25 season on March 26. The league's seven mixed men and women’s teams will have competed Wednesday nights for 24 weeks. We will have a final roll-off of first- and second-half winners, plus jackpot night, followed by an annual meeting and social gathering. It is a lot of fun for everyone.

We always welcome more teams and bowlers! Come join us when we start again in September.
